ASPERGER SYNDROME (AS) is a developmental disorder. It is an autism spectrum disorder (ASD), one of a distinct group of neurological conditions characterized by symptoms ranging from mild to severe. It is a condition that affects the way a person communicates and relates to others, as well as repetitive or restrictive patterns of thought and behavior. There can be many conditions that can be co-morbid with autism spectrum disorder.
According to New CDC Report- Washington, D.C., Feb. 8, 2007-The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released, through its Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR), the latest revised prevalence figures for autism / Asperger syndrome/autism spectrum disorders . The report indicates that the prevalence of autism is now 1 in 150, up from the 1 in 166 figure reported by the CDC in January 2004.
Asperger Syndrome Support and Awareness of Central Illinois was formed to help educate families about Asperger Syndrome and related autism spectrum disorders, bring awareness, give emotional support, and build a strong collaborate relationship between the families, schools, community and medical professional providers about issues consistent with Asperger Syndrome and related autistic spectrum disorders.

The parking in very close to the entrance- Enter at PARKING LOT A (east side of the university), pull into the parking lot and take a sharp turn to your right, then drive forward until you reach the metal buildings, then take a left and park at the west end of the parking lot. You will see a pathway. Our room is in the first building on the right.
Asperger Syndrome Support and Awareness of Central Illinois is an all volunteer Central Illinois based non-profit group for Asperger Syndrome and related autism spectrum disorders . It was created in 2001, by Richard and Diana Noble, parents of a child diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome who became aware of the increasing need for information, education and support on Asperger Syndrome and Autism Spectrum Disorder, in the Springfield, Illinois surrounding area.
